A Chemistry of the Lampful Kind

Is it Fate when two meet?  When you pass one another in the grocery or on the street?

And in the aisle of Goodwill, that tall drink of water waits to see if you notice…and, boy howdy, you do.  You stop and shake hands and feel the electric spark race up your arm…and the Chemistry is alarming.

But, yet, you move on.  You must move on.  Because there is no room in your house heart for another lamp relationship.

And when you see them again… not the exact same them, but a beautiful, striking version of them, a second chance appears and Fate arrives in all her glory…dancing on the wind and whispering in your ear, and without knowing why, you still hesitate. {Even when you could grab those suckers before anyone else sees them, cuz you’ve got friends in high places.}

But you’re still not ready to commit.  The price is still too high, and besides, you have a lamp already… or two… or three… or four…

So you walk away and leave it up to Fate.

And in the end, {when you return to the Church Yard Sale to pick up you’re 13 year old moppy haired TEENAGER} Fate beats you over the head with a big stick smiles on you, and you can no longer deny that Destiny has danced in and laid them at your feet.

{That stick?  It was the half-price-end-of-the-day one}

And you can just see it… Glossy White base and Super Cool Graphic Shade.

And you feel it again, this electricity.  And you marvel that no one else appreciated the potential in these two… this lonely pair.

But you thank your lucky stars they didn’t…cuz this time you get the prize.

For a change.

And you ignore that little nagging voice in the back of you mind that’s telling you the scale is not quite right…cuz it might look totally different once you’ve painted them. So you cross your fingers and hope for the best. And the genius in your head starts pacing back and forth and back and forth…  whispering about Stripes…or Modge Podged Napkins…or Funky Ribbon…

But you just aren’t sure what in the Lampful-World you should do.

So?  What would you do?

Today just might be the day.
But, you’ll never know if you don’t get out there and

Thank you for reading my blog.

Now, let’s hook up, yo.

And so the BOLD ones say...

  1. says

    Bold colored laquer. That’s what the base desires. As for the shade…not feeling the shape. But, perhaps it needs a chance?

  2. says

    I am with Janel! Turquoise or red…..with a bright pattern on the shade.
    Someone wise once told me to be BOLD!

    (Maybe it was Captain Kirk) hee hee

    :) me

  3. says

    I like the scale actually, but might be with Janel on the shade shape. Then again, once the base is done and your creative mind attacks the shade, the shape might be perfect. And not sure why, but I keep seeing it in pear green.

    Oh those lamps were truly destined to live out their lives with you. They are ready for a bold bold make-over. Something graphic [no, not like that...bold patterns silly!] and wowzers. {ha, easy for me to say! ] But I say go with a scrumptious teal, the pear green that Bliss suggested, or, or, or, tangerine!! The shade….hmm…I like the drum shape, but maybe drum shades that aren’t quite as tall? Gee, I’m a ton of help, huh? :) Can’t wait to see what you decide!

  5. says

    Love the lamp and I too see a shiny bright color! I like the drum shade but like Bonnie mentioned above maybe one shorter is stature. It looks a tad too tall. Can’t wait to see what you do G!

  6. says

    Ahhh, I’m voting for the ribbon update! The lamp has got great bones and wonderful proportions, I can’t wait for the reveal! Thank you for visiting my spring bedroom :)
