Are you chicken?

Being a chicken is second nature…to me.

Who really wants to step off that ledge and risk their lives doing something that may or may not pay off?

Wouldn’t it be best to sit back and let others take that leap…jump off that cliff… dive into the unknown?  And then, you can sit and watch as they grab for the surface, reaching for a hand to come down and pull them up out of the murky, algae-filled waters…

Or maybe, you watch them as they violently break the surface, take a gasp of air that their Oxygen-deprived lungs so desperately need

and slowly, but steadily, dog paddle to the rocky shore.

But, maybe, once or twice, from your high perch, you get the brilliant opportunity to watch as someone, taking the leap, reaches up, sprouts wings and, like a jet-fueled rocket, takes off into the starry, starry sky… leaving a jet stream of beautiful triumph in their wake.

All the while you are sitting high above, looking down on their valiant efforts., safe and comfortable….but, well… ever the same.

That’s what a chicken does.

Watches and waits and never takes the leap…and forever, just stays… the… same.

Is that really what you want your life to be like?  To be spent watching as others try and try and try…maybe to succeed, but more often times fall and fail.

How can you break the cycle?  How do you get up and dust off your numb derriere  to become that spit-fire dream maker?  How can you know what it is you should even try?

Well, you have to start somewhere.  And if you just can’t figure out where…

Then…

Blog.

And write your way into your heart’s desire. But there’s a catch.  Isn’t there always?

You have to do it, and you have to keep doing it.  The catch is…

You can’t give up.

Ever.

Comprende?

Or am I preachin’ to the choir?

And so the BOLD ones say...

Blogging has not only given me a place to share what I love to do, it’s made me stretch and try new things. I am so happy I took the leap and started typing. It has far exceeded my expectations already. Meeting lots of like minded people has been fantastic. And you are one of them!!

Preach on sister! Can I join you over in the chicken coop! Blogging is a little scary and overwhelming at times. Just like the horses in the KY Derby…..put blinders on a run the best race you can run…..nose to the wind.

And you’ll be in the winner’s circle everytime :)

no flippin’ kidding about the “keep doing it part”! do you ever feel like you think about it non-stop? like the second you hit “publish” you’re pondering the next post? or that you see the world in potential posts?

    exhausting. i love it.
