The Truss.. Remember the Truss?
I’m just not sure who all was around when I made this headboard from a reclaimed Truss.
Were you? or you? or you? or you? or you? I know you were somewhere around here…
Hmmm… well, if you weren’t that might be for the best…you probably saved yourself from having to come up with some fluffed up generic comment like,
Wow! That’s awesome… I”ve never seen anything like it in my life
When what you REALLY wanted to say, was
HOLY MOSES…what was she thinking???? That is the ugliest thing I’ve seen since {insert the worst thing you have EVER seen in Blogland}…
Because, it’s a bit…ummm…
freaky? no…
overwhelming? hmmm…maybe…
ugly? definitely. Ugly. Like, no alibi ugly…
So, the time has come This Bold Girl said, to make it go away.
Or cut it down and paint it… and then upholster it… maybe…. someday, when I get rich.
But yo, I’m getting hives trying to decide what to do. I’ve narrowed it down.
Red, White or Black.
Wait, let me amend that list…
White or Black?… The red makes me wanna hurl.
I wanted so much to like it in in front of the window.. but it make the room a big-fat cave. It turned the light yellow and my spirit was beleaguered and sad.
And this is where I have to pour out my innards for you all…
So, the Truss awaits it’s updation in the garage and the bed is back on the other wall. And this is how life is now:
Breathin’ easy again… It’s a mess, but the light beams in and my soul feels lighter.
Cain’t have no heavy souls thuddin’ weary steps up in hyah…not when dreams are trying to burst forth and bloom.
KWIM?
So, let’s get a party started down there in the comments an’ yall give me the what-to…

if you put it back i think the white will help keep it light and you could match the trim so it flows, but i like it without- especially if you want the desk there…. keeps your workspace light and bright! do you follow meet me in philadelphia? if not, you should just go check out her master- it’s all red white and blue and SUPER cool.
It is definitely not going back. I love the having the desk there. I can’t stand looking at the wall when I work… I’m tots going to check out that blog. I want to glam up the space… I’ve realized that rustic does not work for this girl. But I tried…
I agree- white would be the best if you’re going to put it back & you want light.
I can’t tell you how happy you made me when you said “no” to the red! I’m all for “Red White & Blue” just not in this instance
LOVE YA!!
I know… the red would be soooo hideous, wouldn’t it???? Ha! I am for sure not putting it back… I LOVE the desk there…even though I did like walking in and having the bed there… It looks better design-wise to have the be there, but I can’t take staring at a wall when I’m working! Thanks for your thoughts!!! So far, white is winning… LOVE YA RIGHT BACK!!!
Laughed at loud while reading this post. My vote is more towards white!
Thanks, Amy! White is really winning out here!
Is it wrong that I kinda loved the natural wood??? I really do….
…but if I had t choose — white would be the no brainer!
I did too at first, Amy… over time I’ve changed my mind, I guess. White is winning, that’s for sure!
Exactly what Amy Renea said.
~Bliss~
Ha! Well, I guess I’m over the natural wood look now… I don’t know why, but I really don’t like it… I don’t know how well it’s going to look painted though, b/c it’s pretty rough around the edges.. we’ll see!
yep, I was around way back in your truss transformation early days
Glad to hear it’s not going back in front of the window – you can’t block the sunshine! If it’s not staying in the bedroom, I’d hold off on painting it until you figure out what it’s new purpose is. Then you can practice my favorite activity…procrastination
Were you??? It’s coming back in… I just want to glam it up a bit. But I’m all over that whole procrastination thing, yo.
Well, I am so glad you happened to mention “but the light beams in and my soul feels lighter” because you have some more sunshine heading your way.
Your blog always adds sunshine to my day, so I nominate you! Shine on G-Dawg! http://paperkeeper.wordpress.com/2012/06/12/sunshine-superstars-aka-the-sunshine-award/
Are you kidding me???
Nope! No way, not kidding
Not one bit! Shine on girl!! Love your blog and all you share!!! Oh, and I totally agree with the votes for white.
I love the white!
Thanks, Brooke~ White is a slam dunk on this one…
I like the bed away from the window – let the sun shine in!! What if you took the rod and brought it across the entire wall – so it didn’t cover any part of the window (just the walls)? And the rod up to the ceiling – that would let in so much more light (and you could give your neighbors a free show)!

Me, too. It’s not going back. The light is SO much better… I think I might do the metal rod thing that Cassie did in Sawyers room. But I can’t put the curtains up much higher b/c I hemmed them funny and they are not long enough… dumb.dumb.dumb. So we’ll see! Thanks for you thoughts!!!
I say white too. It will match the trim and pop against your blue wall. I like leaving the window area open, so your desk gets lots of light. I’m not a big fan of putting anything in front of the window (like the truss).
Dang. White is the ticket. The light is a hundred percent better in this room now. I’m sooooo much happier!
BRING THE TRUSSES BACK!!!!!
Hahahaha!!! It’s coming back..in a different size and a different color… sorry, I just hate it right now!
Add another check to the ‘white’ column! Keep it bright yo
Totally hearing it. White is the consensus… overwhelmingly so!
You are too funny Gwen!! Haha. I like it without I think, but if you paint it, go white
I guess I am going to be the odd duck out… but I think the black is really neat! I am thinking of creating a headboard for our bed and it is going to be black. Love a touch of striking black in a space!
Hey Gwen~
Hmmm- yes, glam that baby up. Waaaaay up.
You are a shiny girl with a day-glo piano… glam it up, girl!
It’ll come to you.
