Sweltering, Melting and Giving Thanks

Giving Thanks…

No.  No Power yet, but it’s slowly inching its way back.

But even though we are hot, we’ve stayed cool. Our house is fantastically insulated and has hovered around 85 degrees, keeping the animals safe, albeit a tad warm.

We’ve movied it, water-parked it and today we’re taking refuge at the Library, which now is powered up.

Another movie {Madagascar 3} is on the calendar and, yes, more fast food.  Blech.

But through it all, we’ve been blessed. We’ve been blessed to have WATER, which is more than some of our friends can say.

We’ve been blessed to have friends bring us in, give us wine and laughter and cool air.

We’ve been blessed to have mulitides of prayer rising on high on our behalf.

We’ve been blessed to have phones to stay in contact with those that are tracking our lives.

We’ve been blessed to have one another, grumpy and unkempt though we may be.

For all of those reasons and more, I can sit here and

GIVE THANKS.

But, let’s face it… I’m still crossing my tingers that today WILL be the day.

Come on AEP and power up The Bold Abode.

Please?

And so the BOLD ones say...

Hoping the power comes back soon. We were among the fortunate to be without for a mere 24 hours and that seemed painful enough. Sounds like you are keeping busy, distracting yourselves from the lack of power.

Sounds like you have so many blessing that a stinking little power outage and record-breaking temps — oh, and that drought thing — can’t get you down! I love your positive glass is half full thinking!

Oh lord, sista! I feel for you, and now I will stop complaining about the heat, because I have air and electricity! I will now go punish myself by cleaning out the garage with the door open.

So glad you’re all safe, if not comfortable. Your situation is much like, yet opposite, our experience last Oct. with winter storm Alfred. By far the worst in that month, took out power, because the trees were still leafy, to a much greater extent than ever before, but we had water, our house is well insulated, too, so we didn’t freeze, some places serving food did have power so we got one hot meal/day.Can’t wait to hear all is normal again!

We lost power for 8 days in hurricane Charley, so I can totally relate to the grump and the unkempt ;) But you have certainly put a positive twist on the situation and here’s to power and A/C … soon!!

Oh Gwen I feel your pain. We have been without power since last Friday night when the storms went through Ohio. We are so lucky though because we are staying at my father-in-law’s half-empty condo. We’ve got AC, TV and internet…and a working refrigerator. Some have it so, so much worse. I’m longing to return home but know I’m blessed to be here. Hang in there girl!

YIKES. Ok, I would have melted by now. That, or my household would have gone into total anarchy. Glad you are keeping your head about you! Happy July 4th and I hope you get some a/c soon!!!

And what bold thoughts do you have to share?
