There’s a infestation going on at The Bold Abode, but I’m sure as sure can possibly get that this house is not the only one wherein this war wages…
We are over run…completely.
And I’m just trying not to drown in…BOOKS.
I mean, they are everywhere. And yes, I know. Books are totally awesome. Everyone should read and read and read…
And never play video games. But come on… let’s face it.. A hundred years ago, books WERE the videos games of today… Little Johnny was often scolded if he were found hiding behind the barn with his head in a book.
If that happened today, little Johnny’s parents would, upon spying their pre-pubescent, ripped-jeans, i-pod totin’, young sire, halt in their tracks and do silent rewind, hoping not to disturb his burgeoning mind at it’s intake of the written word.
But, alas… little Johnny grows up. And gets married. And has FIFTEEN THOUSAND books that he has already read, but refuses to part with.. What’s a girl supposed to do?
And while you all out there with Magazine Worthy homes have beautifully styled bookcases filled with this and that and books that you bought just because the spine was a lovely color…
This is what’s happening over here…
And here… where I’m channeling dorm room décor behind the sofa…
And here… where privacy is of the utmost importance…
I even gave Morgan his own little Bookshelf with the hope that he would use it…
properly…
sigh…
Oh, but Books..
They’re wonderfully entrancing.
Yeah. Keep telling me that, yall. Just don’t show me any more of those lovely photos of your lovely bookshelves with their lovely knick-knacks…
One might think you don’t know how to read…

Please, dear ones, note that the nature of this post is one of sarcasm and humor

And no… no basement here… so I just don’t want to hear it…

I know! I just can’t get Morgan to let go of some of this stuff… They are amazing books, but I’m honestly never going to read Nietzsche… I’m just not.

I still have all my books packed away in boxes from our move (err 3 years ago). I have yet to unpack, purge and display them. I probably don’t have nearly as many as yall do but I too dream of gorgeous magazine worthy shelving with all my books and knick-knacks. So far now I’ll continue to hoard…err hold onto them until I get those lovely built-ins of my dreams!

Oh, gosh… I didn’t even show them all! UGH! But Morgan won’t get rid of any of them… I LOVE books, but they are everywhere and they are really starting to drive me bananas…

My cases look like yours. And it’s probably why I will buy a .10¢ book at a sale to rip the pages out for a craft, then can’t bring myself to actually do it.

I know! I just bought a book at the Goodwill for a project, and it killed me to rip it apart. And Morgan just about had a fit… he mourned over it…

I sold a bunch of books in my last garage sale. You would be surprised how many people look at them and end up buying a whole stack. Of course there are still a bunch that I couldn’t part with. Most of them are in boxes or bins. Sad really…some day my kids are going to hate me when they have to dispose of all of them!

I know… it’s just too hard to let them go. I don’t blame Morgan, but they are really just everywhere and I don’t know what to do with them! If I could get some built-ins Build In… maybe… UGH!

Books are everywhere in my house, too…but I view it as a good thing!
They are so personal to me. While there are many that have been donated to schools or literacy campaigns, I keep most of my favorite books. It just feels wrong to get rid of them…like losing a part of myself. Yep, I’m one of those book nerds.
I know you are on an organizing kick, so get in there and make those shelves of books BOLD!

It IS a good thing… it’s just starting to drive me crazy b/c I don’t have any more space and Morgan keeps bringing them home… He does have a Kindle, so it helps. But there are some books you just can’t read on a device…
UGH.

Haha, funny!! Other than books in the kids rooms, I don’t have any books on display. My bookcases always looked cluttered and jumbled and i just got sick of it. They are all tucked away in drawers and cabinets and unseen. I have been told that a house without books or pets is a house without a soul. Well, I guess I live in a soul-less home. A pleasing to the eye soul-less home
Trade ya… I’m tired of the book clutter and the animal hair!!! It’s driving me NUTS!

It just about killed me to get donate about 5 bags of paperbacks, but as soon as I did it, now I have hardly any books…in paper form. My first kindle was one of the firsts and it was a little tough making the transition from real books to virtual…but now I almost exclusively read books on the kindle. Maybe you can talk Morgan into an e-reader?

Oh, my dear.. he has a Kindle… has for years. We all have one… I CANNOT imagine what our house would be like if we didn’t!!!
UGH.

I am a BOOKLOVER from way back. My husband had the idea that once a book is read, it should leave! The very idea. Sorry, I am right in there with the hubs. Books are beautiful and can be read over and over; kept for the decendents (tongue in cheek). My book shelves are not lovely with knick-knacks. Just books pushed to the back of the shelves and photos in front. They make me feel wealthy! Love the idea of a basket of books in the “library” Thanks. Love your posts.
I’m glad I’m not the only one… I do have to admit, it gives me a sense of treasure seeing them all…
Thank you, Regena… I love that you love my posts…sigh.
