How to Make Coffee Filter Flowers: Dang…they’re so pretty.

how-to-make-flowersOMGSH, yall.

Scooch over Aubrey Hepburn and stand back Heidi Klum.  You’ve got a run fo’ yo’ money, honeys.

These flowers are so pretty… I mean gorgeous!

They should totally be walking the catwalk at Fashion Week.  I can see it.  And if I ever go on Project Runway {is it still on? we don’t have cable anymore…:(  } I’m going to make a giant ball gown out of these puppies.

It’s honestly hard to believe they are made from coffee filters.

I don’t know why it took me so long to do this, but I’m glad I finally got up off my rear and did.

And now, I’m going to show you how to make coffee filter flowers for yourself!

The first thing you do is dye them.  You can read about how to do that in my How to Dye Coffee Filters post.

Prepare Your Filters

Iron your filters.

I know. I don’t iron my own clothes, but I iron my coffee filters… go figure.

But it helps make a really pretty flower.  If you want a crumply looking flower, just skip this step.

Next, take two filters and put a dot of glue right in the center so they stick together.

Then, starting from the inside, draw a swirl like below.

Then cut that swirl and let’s get to making these pretty little fellers.

Making the Flowers

First, bend the end so you have a little tail.

This makes it easier to get the flower started.

Then, start rolling your flower.

I found that rolling it loosely make the flower prettier.

So roll it loosly… and don’t let go.

For some reason,  this flower has an inny…

But that’s ok.  It’ll all come out fine in the end.

See? It’s starting to look like a flower!!!

That little circle that is at the end has a purpose.

Turn the flower upside-down and hot glue the bleep out of it.

Get it in between some of the layers and everywhere you can, and stick the little round circle end on top of the glue and gently smoosh it down.

And there you have it!  Your super-gorgeous coffee filter flower…

Thank you, Joann! I avoid ironing if at all possible… if I take the clothes out of the dryer immediately, it helps me avoid it all the more!
