Linky Party Organization Solution

Are you a linker?

Like me?

How do you keep up with what and where you’ve linked your projects? If you are a serious Party Girl like I am, it can be down right confusing knowing what you have linked up where.

And you don’t want to make all of those fabulous Host’s sit and fume when they see your, albeit, amazingly gorgeous Reclaimed Column Buffet…for the tenth time.

But let’s get real.  It’s a pain.  I tried…

A. Using a notebook and writing it all down by the post and
B. Making a printable table to write down the post on a Page made for each party.

TIME CONSUMING ALERT.
NOT FUN ALERT.
FORGET ALERT.

Now, I gots da answer.  Its so simple, I ask mysef…

Sef… why didn’t you thinka dat?  Oh, wait…I did.

So here is a list of all of the linky parties organized by day.

Sunday
Wednesday

Yup.  That’s a ton…I know.  But in my defense…I don’t get to everyone of them for every project.  So, it’s OK. Don’t go all superior and chastise me pimpin’ myself out too much…

Well, I figured out, that I could mark them in each post to indicate whether or not I linked that particular post up.

For each party, I change the text to italics if I’ve linked it up.  You can see under “Tuesday” that some of the blog links are, indeed, italicized.

How dern easy and awesome is that?

Now, all I have to do is keep an “edit” version of my blog post open as I party and make the changes as I go.  No more having to go back to the dern week before and scan 500 links to see if I can locate my post within the chaos.

Hip-Hip-Hooray!

And, if you link to them in your post instead of your sidebar, it helps their SEO stuff..Now, I haven’t figured all of that out yet, but I do know that.  So show your hosts some love and link to their party in your post!

Do you keep up with your linkies?  If so, how?

Today just might be the day.
But, you’ll never know if you don’t get out there and

  3. April Lou says:

Oh my goodness. You really work it girl. Those link parties make my brain hurt. I am totally unorganized. I also fly by the seat of my pants. You rock.

  4. Holly says:

I am totally laughing about "pimping" out. So damn funny. I finally dedicated a whole page to a "Party Directory". I still link in my posts but…. well I still get confused. So you are switching to wordpress? All these stupid changes with GFC & picnik going away bugs….

  5. Jill says:

Well today must be a Linky Party day – I wrote a post about them too!! I have a whole page with links on like your list here organised by day – so I just go through them day by day and link up when I've projects to share. I have them all set to open in a new window too – so the list stays open too as I link up and I can go back to it for the next one!

It's always nice to see other people's lists too – there are so many link parties out there – good to find some new ones!

Wow, you are so organized! I just link as I go through the week. It all depends what I have posted at the time. And I still add the party button to that specific post. … If you care to add another party, we'd love to have you join our Be Inspired link party every Tuesday!

that chick's face is how i feel whenever i see SEO and HTML. man, are you ahead of the game! keep 'em coming, honey! you're saving me from drowning!

  8. Bella says:

Girl I knew we were nerds separated at birth! I do the same thing with all my most used code snippets. I keep a draft post full of them and in wordpress your recent drafts are highlighted on your dashboard so it's easy access.

  9. Tina@WhatWeKeep says:

This is the reason I don't join up to more parties. I simply don't have the time to get so organized like that with so many things on my plate these days.
Great idea for me to do at some point and these ideas will be HUGE timesavers.
    Glad you are feeling better!

I was good about parties at first and love them but have gotten to be a sluggard. I really need to do this.

You have some impressive organization skills my friend! I used to be a crazy linker, but it seems like I haven't had a project to link up to parties lately. Good thing I have my party, so I can keep track of what everyone else is up to! I've tagged you in a little bloggy game. I would love it if you visited my blog and played along. Have a great weekend Gwen…I'm sure you'll have some new projects up your sleeve?!?!

  13. Andi @ Jane of all crafts says:

Great idea!! I just need to find the time to organize my time and then I can organize my linkys :)

  14. Bliss says:

OK, so I gotta make sure I have this right and put it into the words that are in my head (because sometimes I don't link since I can't find where the link parties are!). On on each post you include at the bottom your link list, then you just go back and italicize the link you actually linked too. So if I make a master list of all the link parties I can just copy and paste it into each of my posts whether or not I am actually linking that post?

  17. Erin of Salvaged Whimsy says:

Great idea – I just paste a list of the parties that I usually link to at the bottom of my posts…but I never thought to italicize the ones I actually visit. You're so smart!

  18. Junky Vagabond says:

My solution is to not have anything to link up :) Just kidding!! Too busy to have something, but when I do link something up again, I'll try this super-simple solution. Awesome Gwen!

Hi Gwen! Saw your link at Nifty Thrifty Finds linky party and had to stop by for a better look and say hello! Your post made me laugh and I was nodding my head while reading it, compeltely understanding where you are coming from. As a fairly new blogger, I am trying to grow my blog so have been 'pimping' the link parties too! I have been keeping link party dates and which post I have linked up organized in my Outlook Calendar. It have it set up to give me a 24 hour reminder as well, so I know what parties are coming up and when. I have a link party page set up separately, but I didn't know that putting the links right in the post helped with the SEO thingy (Sorry, I am new to blogging and trying to learn the acronyms and lingo!). So thanks for this great idea, will do that. Did you know that you can set up your posts so that the list would automatically be inserted into every post when you create a new one? You don't have to cut and paste it every time into every post (am using Blogger). I just figured that out, myself! Please drop by my blog sometime and say hello. Luv to make new bloggy friends :) Have a great day!

Found you at nifty thrify things….I keep a list by day, then on Sunday night, I sit down and look at Mondays parties and start linking up. I only link up my previous weeks posts so it's not hard to keep straight which I've linked up in the past. Thanks for sharing your ideas!! I wondered how everyone else did it!
