Do you worry about stuff? Duh. Stupid question.
Let me rephrase that. Do you worry about being everything to everybody? You give and give and give, and then what’s left but a tired bedraggled mess of leftover human meatloaf that can hardly breathe, much less eat right and sleep.
Does that describe your life, if even just a little bit? It did mine.
Until I realized something. You can’t give enough to anybody to fill them up. You can’t spend your life taking care of everybody else just to make them happy. You have to take care of yourself. You have to find your own peace first. You have to been the best You that only you can be.
Feed your kids, yes. Pee your dog, yes. Iron your clothes (or not). But don’t put yourself last. When I started really working on myself a couple of years ago, I just let go of all the expectations that everyone else had for me and decided that I needed to become my very best self.
And do you know what? Everything else began to fall in place. I was happier, and so it made taking care of my family easier. It made all my other responsibilities lighter because I was valuing my own mind and my own time and my own place in life. I ate better, I started really guarding my thoughts, and I took care of my body. Now, life just flows out from me.
So, take a breather. It’s OK.
Know that all you have is this moment right now. There is never any time but now and can never be anytime but now. So work on yourself first, and the world will most indubitably be a better place!
