Do you have a place that you go where you just feel so much peace it makes your heart hurt?
Now, I didn’t go to UVA, but that doesn’t mean I can’t love it.
In fact… I do love it. We love it. We got there just to walk around the Lawn.
It makes me feel smarter just being there…
This time, there was a little Restoration going on… but it still just takes my breath away…
It just oozes history…
And charm…
The brick.. the herringbone pattern… the shutters.
Be still my beating heart!
But I find it funny. Somewhere along the way, someone thought it would be a great idea to paint everything white… {wink, wink}
And now, they are reviving Thomas Jefferson’s original vision from underneath all those coats of white…
But white or not… I’ll keep going back.
We’ll keep going back.
To take our walks and soak in the atmosphere of this dreamy campus and enjoy the beautiful Lawn at UVA.
Wahoowa!
{Should they have painted everything white or was it a big mistake?}
Aren’t we lucky to have so much history just in our backyard? It’s been a while since I’ve been on UVA’s campus. Your pictures are so pretty!

How relaxing! It is absolutely stunning.
My son was lucky enough to live in one the Lawn rooms for the 2012-13 academic year. We used to visit as much as possible just to enjoy the beauty of the school and grounds. I wish I’d gone there!
