Nothing says Earth Day like an upcycle project, am i right?
I’ve had this little wooden recipe box in the garage for-evah but just didn’t know what to do with it. Now it’s a super cute geometric gold flower box that brings in a little spring to the foyer.

How to make this Geometric Metallic Gold Flower Box
What you need:
- Vintage box (or wooden box from the craft store would work too!)
- Americana Acrylic Paint in Cottonball
- Americana Dazzling Metallics in Splendid Gold
- Painter’s Tape
- Drill
- 6 silk flowers
First, give the box a through cleaning.
Drill 6 holes into the lids so the flowers would fit.
Then paint it with several coats of white. I painted and painted and painted to make sure I had a very, very white canvas.
Once it is as white as white can get, (and very dry), tape off the box at a diagonal.
First, paint over the tape with white to create a seal. This will give you the cleanest, sharpest paint line EVER.
The birds will sing you sweet melodies when they see this crisp paint line. Tweet, tweet.
Then cover it in the Splendid Gold. Loads and loads of coats there, too. The thicker you get this Gold, the more beautifully metallic it is!
Nice, huh?
Now you can pop the lid on and stick your pretty flowers in the holes.
What do you think? Here it is on the piano.
I’m SO ready for spring… Are you?
xoxo
