Hey! It’s Gwen here. I’m sure you know what a vision board is, right? Oprah made them famous quite a number of years/decades ago. I’ve actually never made one thinking that they were a little too woo-woo for me, but recently in my maturing years I’ve really gotten into creating a vision for my life.
I’ve never been a planner. I like things to be fluid and allow for spontaneous bouts of nothingness. And fun. And Netflix binging.
But that hasn’t gotten me very far. Wonder why…
Anyhoots, I decided to make my own vision board BUT I don’t have lots of magazines lying around to cut pictures out, and I’m not big on printing them with my old-school-ink-sucking printer. That left me with some sharpies and a canvas. I had both in my studio, and I figured I could just ignore the perfectionist sitting on my shoulder and use what I got.
Like I said, all you need is:
- Sharpies in awesome colors
- Large blank canvas ( I used a 16×20)
- Copy Paper to plan your board
First, sit down and start your brain cells thinking about what you want for your life.
Do you want to correct your weight? Do you have a fitness goal you want to acheive? Do you want to start a new business? Do you want to learn how to roller skate on one foot while balancing a piñata on your head?
Write down anything that comes to mind.
Then choose 3 or 4 of your most important wants/needs/desires and doodle around on your copy paper. Once you have an idea of how you want it to look, just grab your canvas and go to town.
Use your sharpies to create your beautiful hand-lettered vision board.
Shut down the perfectionism and just let it roll. I messed up and had to start over again. It’s ok, especially if you buy a 5 pack of canvases. I’m just going to paint over the one I messed up on. And this one when I need to make new visions for my life. Cuz I’ma need to once I make these come true.
If you want you can even use a pencil to draft it onto the canvas. That might have been helpful for me if I had thought of that before just now typing up this post. ? ? ?
I aded a quote that I love, “Failure cannot cope with persistance”. I can’t remember where I heard that or who said it, but it’s my mantra these days. I know I’ll achieve these things if only because I’m never going to give up on them! Like NEVAH.
I also added a long affirmation on money. I’ve struggled to allow abundance in my life, and I’m really working on those blocks with EFT. It’s an amazing technique, and I”m feeling so different now. So much more confident and open and strong and, did I say confident?
Now hang it where you can see it every.single.day.
I first hung my hand-lettered vision board on the old door I have leaning on the wall behind my desk, but then I realized I wasn’t looking at it everyday. That’s the most important part! Now it’s sitting on my desk right in front of my ocular devices where I can tap out each vision and really connect with it.
I believe. I know I am enough.
Do you?
xoxo
