So, we’ve made our Pixel Art and framed it with the easiest method ever.
But what about hanging it? Well, that’s no biggie if you have a regular wall to display it. But if you have board and batten, like I do in my office, then there’s a bit of a problem.
You can’t just use the regular picture hanging method of a nail and some picture hanging wire. You have to make sure it’s set out off the wall so it’s level.
I’ve got you covered!
How to Hang a Canvas over Board and Batten
What you need:
- 2 pieces of scrap wood, the same width as your horizontal board.
- Hammer and nails { I used my WAY awesome cordless Ryobi Airstrike.} <= amazon affiliate link for easy online ordering!
First, cut your two pieces of scrap wood.
Since my canvas was so large at 48″ wide, I cut mine about 8″ long.
Find the center of where you want to hang your canvas, and nail the first scrap piece into the wall.
Make sure to use a level! Those are words of warning from personal experience. Oops. Second time’s a charm, right?
That will get you even with the board from the board and batten. However, since I have a box frame, I’m going to add another scrap of wood so I can nail my frame directly into it. If you don’t have a box frame, then just use the one scrap to hang your picture or canvas as usual.
Now we can hang our box framed canvas!
Just set the canvas up on the scraps of wood and make sure it’s flush with the actual board from the board and batten. Then pop a couple of nails through the frame and into the second piece of scrap wood.
And that’s it! Now, you have a nice, level hanging canvas.
Couldn’t get better than that… unless it involved some Nuttella Stuffed Marshmallows, huh?
