Washi Tape Coke Bottle: When the 80′s Come Knockin’

Washi Tape Coke Bottle: A Crafty 80's Throwback! Click the image to see the step by step tutorial. Oh, if we’d only had Pinterest in the 80′s…

or the internet for that matter.

It would have been covered with leg warmers and fluorescent clothes and rubber bracelets.

Do you remember wearing those black rubber bracelets halfway up your arms?  Or was that the 90′s.  It’s all a blur!

Well, when I was a kid, we had this one craft that I loved.  You took a glass coke bottle {cuz that’s all we had anyway}, and tore off little pieces of masking tape and proceeded to cover the entire bottle with them.

Then you’d take some paint and paint that masking tape…  It was a sight to see, no?

So, I got my boys some glass cokes for Christmas, because they asked and then I got allll nostalgic.

And then I realized, I didn’t even have to use masking tape… I could use WASHI Tape!

GLORY BE!

Here’s how you do it!

Step 1

  • Grab a coke bottle

  • And some Washi Tape.

And you can add a pretty paper flower made from a dyed coffee filter.

I’ll show you how to do that in the very near future!

I’m not even quite sure what to do with this amazing tutorial! That coke bottle all decked out in washi tape is just so adorable! It’s a little like decoupage having the strips all pasted on randomly and ooh, I love it so much! Plus, you are not necessarily limited to coke bottles so there is a whole world of strange and interesting bottle or jar shapes to choose from. Thanks so much for this inspiring idea!
