Wow. When I started looking back over the past year, I had no idea I’d actually done some stuff.

Like fur realz.

I thought at first I was going to have like 5 things to show you, but I actually had to pick and choose what to put on The Best of The Bold Abode: 2013… Holla, holla!

So, here are my favorites from this year! I hope you love these puppies as much as I do…

Picture Picture Frames

Oh, I had been wanting to make something with Mod-Podge and photographs for ever.

Then I got this bright idea to make a picture, picture frame.

Then I realized that I couldn’t put a picture in the frame, so I made a heart printable for it.

Because I love my boys.   A. LOT.

 

Stairway to Heaven {my favorite!}

So, this project was a year in the making!  I started painting the stair risers, thinking I’d do a blue ombre effect… you know, since ombre is totally trendy and junk.

But… I hated it. And three risers stayed half painted for months.  Until I found Spoonflower, and saw this amazing removable wallpaper.  I took a chance, and it paid off BIG TIME.

I still LOVE this project.  L. O. V. E.

Washi Tape Instagram Frames

Oh, brother.  I just HAD to get on the Washi Tape Band Wagon and make these Washi Tape Instagram Frames.

Or the Washi Tape Spinning Tea Cups… {for those of you that have been to Opryland}

And it was a fun, fun ride. I’m still not sick of it. Are you?

 

Nutella Stuffed Strawberries

Uh-huh.  Yeahz.

Nutella and Strawberries… a heavenly combo, baby.

I think this pin went viral.  But the pageviews didn’t show it.  I mean, how hard is it to figure this one out, right? haha.

Still… these were amazing and I’ll make them again when I get some fresh, juicy strawberries!

 

Stenciled Stripes are AWESOME!

I decided I wanted… nay, NEEDED some stripes.

So I painted them.

And then I hated them. HATED.

Then I won a stencil and the rest is Her-story. {yes, I just went there.}

LOVE these stripes still.  They rival the stairs and are totally jealous that they can’t be number one.  {even though I sleep with them every night. That should be consolation enough, right?}

 

Shaker Style Headboard

I’m so happy. Happy that my brain thinks in strange ways.

But the photos are kinda sad, so I think I need to get a bed-spread and re-write this headboard post.

That’s my goal this year.

To not post unmade beds and ugly pillows.  Perhaps that hinders me as a home blogger, ya think?

 

A Bold, Gold Desk

I can’t say enough about this desk.  I’ve had it since I was a dorky, slightly overweight 12 year old girl.

My grandaddy gave it to me and I will never, ever part with it voluntarily.

COLD. DEAD. FINGERS.

But I did paint it, so there’s that…

 

Simple Sewing Tips

I freakin’ love to sew and sometimes I forget that because it comes easy to me, not everyone loves it like I do.

So I decided to take some of the mystery out of it with this series on Simple Sewing Tips, and I hope it’s clear and easy to follow.

I need to make some more aprons with some funkier fabric.  That’s on my list for 2014 fur surz.

 

How to do Shadow Embroidery

Man.  This is probably my favorite hand-sewing technique.

I smocked for a few years and then ran into Shadow Embroidery.  It’s pretty quick and easy to do, which is a bonus for this ADD-project girl!

Tomato Cage Christmas Trees

I’m not a big Christmas decorator-girl, but I do love these guys.  And it was fun getting some crazy looks in the store buying tomato cages in the dead of winter.

The Best Buttercream Icing, Like Ever

Um. Yeaz.

I’m not jerkin’ your chain.  THE best buttercream icing ever.  My boys emphatically agree.

They’d like to main-line it.

But I have to be a decent mother and keep them from destroying their lives, so I only give them a spoonful at a time.

Man, I’m a good mom.

2013 was a good, good year… I hope that 2014 will be even better.  I’m expecting it and visualizing it and meditating on it.
