I don’t know about you, but the microwave is one of the things that I resist cleaning.
I’m not sure if it’s just because it’s up high and hard to reach {which it’s not, btw} or if I’m just lazy prefer to do other things. Probably the latter, but the jury’s still out eating Chinese.
But I’ve figured out a way to clean and freshen it that works for the lazy girl!
What you need:
- All Natural All Purpose Household Cleaner
- 1 Cup of Vinegar
- 1 lemon, sliced
How to Freshen a Stinky Microwave
First, take your All Natural All Purpose Household Cleaner and spray down the entire microwave.
Don’t be stingy. Cover it good!
Wait for 2-3 minutes. I know this is hard, but it makes wiping down the stuck on parts easy!
That means you have to use a very little bit of elbow grease. Save that for something more involved, like a stinky boy’s bathroom.
While you are waiting, take out the turntable and wash it in the sink.
After a few minutes, take a paper towel and wipe it out. All the gross stuff should come off easily!
See how nice and clean?
Now to freshen it!
Slice your lemon and put it in the cup of vinegar. I used a glass measuring cup for safety reasons. I’ve been known to melt things in and on things.
Poor ikea cutting board.
Add a bit of distilled water to the mix… about 1/2 cup.
Microwave on high for 6-8 minutes. The vinegar and citrus will permeate the entire microwave, cleaning and freshening it!
Just be very careful when it’s done. That vinegar water will bet hot, hot, HOT!
Now you have a clean and fresh, non-stinky, microwave!
Life is good when things smell fresh!
