The Rainbow Connection…have you found it?

Are you half asleep?

Or are you star gazing?

Do you hear the voices?  No, I’m not talking about the ones that require professional expertise…

The ones that speak to your heart and whisper in thoughts and images and visions that come softly on little cat feet and dissipate just as mysteriously as the came?

And when they come, are you listening?  Or do you ignore them…brushing them away because of deficiencies in time or money or energy or follow-through?

And in the middle of it…this listening or ignoring or just holding it all together the best way that you can…you should be afraid.

Afraid that, as time marches, these heart-voices…

These phantom-nudges that promise a deeper meaning and faith and harvest will, little by little take their messages and move on.

And go away, alone, unheeded and dejected.

And with them, they’ll take the promise of a future filled with wings to fly and fuel to go the distance.

But, Gwen, you say…  I’m happy, now.  I’ve got no need to take the leap and jump off that cliff.

And maybe, you’re right.  But what if you’re not…

What if this so-called life is just the life that you live and you’re walking along in that cloud of “not knowing what you’re missing”… all because you just won’t take a chance…

Why are there so many songs about rainbows and what’s on the other side?

Rainbows are not just visions.

They are not just illusions.

Listen and believe it.

I never thought I would, but I never gave up hope.  I never stopped looking and listening and hoping and dreaming.  I never stopped believing that there was something on the other side of that rainbow.

And finally… finally… finally… I found the connection…

And, I mean, if I can…

and a talking frog can…

Then what’s stoppin’ you?

Today just might be the day.
But, you’ll never know if you don’t get out there and

  1. i am and always will be a dreamer…. but for me i love the search for the connection and if i never quite find it i am ok with it. i have a lot of fun and meet amazing people on my way, and my dreams shift and change…. and that is ok because i am still with the best of them, the lovers, the dreamers, and me….. all of us under its spell.

    1. Yes, you are! And you never stop looking and listening and dreaming…that is the most important thing you can do! Dreams do shift and change, and it takes a keen ear and a watchful eye to notice when they do! And you have both… I say, you have found the connection, my friend… otherwise you wouldn’t be where you are, doing what you do with the grace and style that you do it with.

    1. It’s one of those days that just feels good. Good to be on the right track and know it! Thanks, Holly…

  2. Well said my friend…well said! I think our friend Dolly P. said it best “The way I see it, if you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain.”

Sometimes finding our ‘pot of gold’ takes time and perseverance (& maybe a little blood, sweat and tears too). The whispers I hear change from time to time and that’s just fine. I’m with Cassie, my dreams shift and change and as long as I can make a few of them come true…I’m happy 🙂

    1. That’s right! You’ve got to brave the storm because they will come no matter the situation… It does take time and LOADS of perseverance! And always, always listening, because dreams change and roads diverge… It’s just nice to HAVE a dream to pursue! Not have direction and goals is crippling and frustrating and sad… I’m so glad to be where I am doing what I’m doing!

  3. Well said Gwen….thanks for this post…. I needed to hear that today! Sometimes it’s frustrating trying to find and achieve our ‘niche’. I am still on the journey to achieve mine, but I keep dreaming and looking forward to new opportunities and know that doors always open when you least expect them to! Thank you for sharing your eloquent thoughts 🙂 Heather

    1. That is right… if you keep looking and listening it WILL happen. And most certainly when you least expect it!

      Never, never, never give up!

  4. Well at least I’ll have a happy tune in my head all day. I just wish when I sing it out loud I didn’t feel I had to use a Kermit voice.

    ~Bliss~

    1. Ha! Kermit is awesome.

I had a great uncle named Kermit. I really wanted to use if for one of my boys, but we didn’t for obvious reasons…

  5. Great Post Gwen – super encouraging! Thank you – and it gets me a thinkin’…and that’s a good thing. Really. 🙂

  6. Great and uplifting post! I love the song too. It really brought back lots of happy memories. Thanks for this wonderful post!

    Best wishes,
    Natasha in Oz

    1. Oh, so many memories, right? Back when we could touch the Rainbow and nobody could tell us otherwise…

Thanks, Natasha In Oz… I’m on that Yellow Brick Road right now..
