I have an Orange Dining Room.
I hate Orange. Like…exceedingly. So why? Why do I have an Orange Dining Room?
Because a cute little four year old wanted one.
And so, I have an Orange Dining Room…
And curtains made out of Bedroom Material. Well, that’s what the color specialist at Ben Moore said..
Oh, Wells… They looks “Vintagy Monet” to me… I love them and that’s all that freakin’ counts… right?
And when I ran out of fabric, b/c I didn’t estimate properly was trying to save some money… Well’m, Improvisation at it’s finest, huh?
Oh, no….wait! That was planned… I wanted them to be all droopy and show that green fabric.
The mistake was at the bottom, and dern it, if I don’t have a picture of that… Shoot-fire. {snap}
FYI… harsh lighting does not a good picture make…
But fabric remnants do look good on tables…
But almost rotten apples look gross up close…
But from far away… a lovely day. ha.
Polka dot vases? Hmmm….
What could possibly be more fun???
Polka-dot curtains, my bleeps… Even on a hot summer day, I sit and pretend it’s snowing outside…
And be thankful that I can smile in my pictures unlike these fair relatives of mine… But THEY make ME smile…so it’s all good…
No sideboard.
Shazamalicious Sideboard… thanks, Cassie! and Mirror.. and Daisies… My favsies…
It’s our “formal” dining room… but we love it and thus we LIVE in it…
UPDATE: Wow. That’s a ton of Orange, isn’t it? See the new, lighter Bold Dining Room here.
I love orange!. Our bedroom is a darker orange and while I love it. I heart your dining room, it’s bright and fun and you use it! And I gotta say the Shazamalicious Sideboard makes a big impact in that room. Totally completes the room!
I do, too, now! I couldn’t imagine it any other color…
I agree… that sideboard made a HUGE difference…a MAJOR impact… I’m so lucky!
HAHA! love this post! my favorite part is the rotten apples because i am also guilty of that. 🙂
Aren’t they gross??? It’s CRAZY how much better this room looks now with sideboard! SERIOUSLY… awesomeness…
It’s so sweet that you painted a whole room in your house a color you despise because you’re a good mom 🙂 Love your decorating style Gwen!
Thanks, Jill! My heart hurts just thinking about it…
See, my so loves orange too. So I put it in HIS room …
Looks great. And thanks for sharing the lived in. And the polka dots have to be my fave. I’m having a new polka dot obsession these days …

Linda
Me, too! Hahahaha… Brendan has Tangerine walls! Oh, boy…
Polka dots are where it’s at, yo.
I’ll tell you right now that I love everything about that orange dining room! This is my first visit to your blog. I must have found you when I was impressed with something that you had on pinterest. Nicetameetcha!!
Welcome, Lynn!
Holla, holla and thank you so very much! It’s certainly grown on me…this orange. When something has meaning to it, how can it not?
Nicetameetcha right back, yo. Peas out.
Mom of year for painting your son’s choice!! And it’s a fab color to boot – he’s got style!
I let my girls choose their room color – hurts my eyes when I walk by their rooms but they love it!!
Kelly
Thanks, Kelly! What else can you do? He was so insistent and sweet and I don’t regret it one bit! The boys both picked the colors in their rooms, too… It fits them and I wouldn’t have it any other way!
You’re a good mom, too… sigh.
This orange dining room is to die for! That suzani leftover fabric on the table makes the room! And my personal favorites are the cute little details, like the polka-dots from the happy vase match the circles in the curtains 🙂
Thanks, Meeha! I’m struggling over what to do with that fabric~ I bought to make a Roman Shade in the kitchen, but I LOVE it on the table.. It’s fun to be surrounded by happy things, isn’t it? We all need more polka dots in our lives, I say!
Hi Gwen,
You have a beautiful dining room. I love the orange with the Monet style drapes.
I used to have dishes like it.

Ahh I love the comment about pretending that its snowing outside even on a hot day! That fits me perfectly. I always wish its snowing outside. I love the sideboard table you do have! Its beautiful and with the mirror and the other display items, well it makes it perfect. Have a wonderfully bold day!
Thanks Amanda! I thought I email you, but maybe I didn’t!
