In our new place, we actually have the same plastic shower insert that we had in our former house. Needless to say, it can be a bear to clean. For some reason, the dirt just loves to cling to the textured plastic floor. I’ve had many, many different showers over the course of my life, from tiled to cultured marble to cast iron and had different ways to keep them all clean.

But this “modern” plastic is the WORST! Of course, if I clean it out everyday, it stays pretty fresh, but who has time (or rather the will) to clean a shower every. single. day.?

Not me. Though I try to have great routines and keep things together, this seems to be the bane of my existence.

But over the course of the past 10 years of living with this monstrosity, I have come across three cleaners that seem to do a pretty great job of dealing with said dirt.

Here are my 3 favorite shower cleaners that I have come to love after using a plethora of products over the years!

Here are the 3 awesome shower cleaners you need to try if you have a tough situation like my plastic shower thorn-in-my-side!

  1. Mrs. Meyers Clean Day Vinegar Gel Cleaner – I love this cleaner because it is a gelled vinegar cleaner with a light scent. Since it’s gelled, it can cling to surfaces that liquid cleaners just can’t manage. Plus, it can clean more than just the shower… pretty much anything that you can clean with vinegar, this will work on!
  2. Kaboom Foam-Tastic Bathroom Cleaner with Oxiclean – If you don’t mind using not so natural cleaners, this is my favorite! It is a foam, so it sticks to vertical surfaces like shower walls. Plus it sprays on blue and turns white when it’s “finished”. Now I tend to leave it on a little longer for tough stains, like when the shower floor gets a little smudgy. It does have a bit of a chemically smell, so I tend to spray it on, turn on the vent fan, shut the door and leave for 5-10 minutes while it does it’s work. Then, I take a soft scrubber like these Scotch-Brite Non-Scratch Scrub Sponges and gently scour away and stuck on muck. Works great!
  3. DIY Shower Cleaner – Of course, I still LOVE my DIY Shower Cleaner. It’s super easy to make and works very well. And you can use this spray on anything that you can clean with vinegar. (Just NOT on granite. I have a special granite cleaner for that right here!)

So there you have it! My 3 Awesome Shower Cleaners You Need to Try!
