Bows are NOT my thang. I’m like the three stooges when it comes to bows, except there’s not Moe and no Larry.
Think about Curly all by himself. Â That’s what it’s like when I try to make a freakin’ bow.
Yeah. I know.
but. But. BUT!
I’ve figured it out. Â I figured out how to shed my inner Curly and move up to at least Larry. Â Maybe even Moe.
Not Martha yet, but I’ll take it!
First, I made my very own DIY Bow Maker. It’s da Shizzle, baby!
DIY Bow Maker
supplies
- 12-14 inch 1×2 piece of wood
- 2 small dowels or skewers
- ruler
- drill
- small drill bit {I think I used 3/8″, but make sure and check before you drill
All you need to do is drill two small holes the same diameter of your dowels and stick them in as in the photo below.
You can mark the dowel in 1 inch increments to make it easier to measure the size of your bow.
And that’s it! Â You have your very own DIY Bowmaker!
I’ll be back tomorrow to show you how to use it.
It’s so easy, even Curly could figure it out.
UPDATE: This post will show you how to make a bow using this DIY Bow Maker.
you are so smart! i am a crap bow maker. not my forte.
haha! Me, either… Mine stink!
I cannot make bows to save my life – can’t wait to see you give this thing a whirl!!
Can’t wait to see hoe to make the bows! I’ll be back tomorrow.
Oh man, I am so bad at making bows! And weirdly enough, JM is super good at it, so anytime I need a bow I just have him make it, but this looks easy enough!
I just recently started using a bow maker to make bows too! I was epically bad at them before. Love that you came up with a diy version!
Like to make neat bows
How far apart are your dowels?
Hmm… probably about 1/4-1/2 inch. The larger the ribbon, the more you want to space them, I’d think. 🙂
All I have to say is “duh”. Brilliant.
Thank you, Wendy!
