I have a confession… we’ve always struggled with the hanging of the Christmas lights. Unfortunately, neither Morgan nor I are bffs with the ladder species.

And I reeeeally don’t care to be up on one of those critters since my fall down the stairs.  I’m not going to not get on a ladder because I’m tough like that, but it’s not may favorite pastime in the world of activities.

And Morgan has never been a fan of elevated platforms.  I do get him on a waterslide every now and again, but it’s not because he enjoys overlooking a giant slab of cement from a hundred feet up in the air!

So, when we found this crazy awesome light hanging pole… it was a true no brainer.

There is a bit of a learning curve, but once I got the hang of it, it made double short work of hanging the lights on our porch…without a ladder of any variety!

Here’s how to hang Christmas lights without a ladder:

First, take a clip and put your wire inside like below. Then pop the clip in the pincher end of the pole.

Then slide the clip under your shingle.  Pull the release trigger and very gently remove the pole from the clip.

This is where it can get tricky, and I had to practice several times.  It was a wild and crazy adventure.

One thing I do want to mention is that when we first started, we had to get on the ladder and hang two in the center of the porch for stability.  After that, we were on solid ground.  Yes.

Ze lightz are hung unt ve are ready fur Zanta. /she says in her best German accent for absolutely no reason whatsoever.

I hope this helps you hang your lights with your feet planted firmly on the ground too! The next adventure is probably going to involve trying to hang them on the big dormer up there.  Yes, that will involve a ladder, but not a scaffolding, I think!

Have you hung your lights yet, or do you scrooge out and go dark? ha.
