This is my (and the hordes of humanity’s) most favorite time of the year, but with all the rich, delectable foods around, it can get sickeningly overwhelming. After eating all the turkey and all the dressing and all the pie, your body can feel like you swallowed a big, lead balloon.
That’s why I’m sharing this Lemon Ginger Water Detox Tonic. This tonic has literally changed my life. And I’m not being “internet literal” where I’m exaggerating how awesome something is so you’ll click on it. I’m drop, dead, diva serious.
I’ve had some very weirdo health problems this year that have made me feel like a crazy woman. I’ve felt sick and weak and have had bizarre adrenaline type rushes for what feels like no reason. Recently I decided to do a liver detox because I read that waking up in the middle of the night with that weird feeling can be a symptom that your liver isn’t storing glycogen properly.
I just happened to have some lemons and ginger on hand, and one day, decided to just juice them and add them to my water.
Golly Geez. Within about 10 minutes that weird, buzzing feeling was gone. I’ve never experienced anything like it. I don’t know how or why it works for me, but it does. Ergo I drink it at least 3 times a day. It’s my own personal miracle juice.
Lemon Ginger Water Detox Tonic
Ingredients:
- 4-6 lemons
- 1Â large ginger root
- Either filtered water or sparking water
How to make Lemon Ginger Water Detox Tonic
First juice half of your lemons in your juicer. I’ve had this Breville juicer for three years and it’s held up great.
Then juicer your ginger followed by the other half of your lemons. You want to do it this way so the lemon juice will help push all the ginger through the juicer. I always have a lot of pulp stuck in my strainer basket, but the lemons help quite a lot.
If you don’t have a juicer, juice the lemons by hand and either grate your ginger and put it in with the lemons and let it infuse it. Or you could try steeping your ginger like tea and boiling it down by half so it’s more concentrated.
But I highly recommend a juicer. It makes it so much easier!
Store your lemon and ginger tonic in a cute mason jar.
How to make the Lemon Ginger Water
Add between 1-2 Tablespoons of the concentrate to a 16oz glass of either filtered or sparking water. I love using the bubbly! If it’s too much, you can add a little bit of honey or stevia to balance the taste. I just drink it straight because I’m not eating any sugar right now. In the sparking water, it’s lovely. In plain water it’s a little biting, just fyi.
How often should I drink this Lemon Ginger Water Detox Tonic?
So, I’m not a doctor or dietician, but I drink it 3 times a day minimum. I don’t think lemon and ginger are going to hurt you as long as you are diluting it with water.
