Did you know that I almost tried out for cheerleading in the sixth grade? Oh, brother and sister!
My friend, Ashley, and I were going to be “partners”. We practiced for weeks before hand out in her front yard… on a blanket. Why a blanket? Who the heck knows. We were 11.
When it came time for tryouts, reality set in rather harshly. All the herkies and touch-touching going on around, and I couldn’t get my little toushie a half an inch off the ground.
Needless to say… I opted for a trip to Dallas with my parents and unfortunately “missed” the actual tryouts.
It was then that I realized I was not going to follow in the footsteps of my athletic sister.
But I totally still LOVE pom-poms. I love how they feel… so soft and girly.
So I made my own with these You Cheer Up My Heart Valentines. Aren’t they just the cutest thing to ever grace Valentine-land?
All you need to make these valentines is:
- Free Printable Tags {you can grab the download link at the bottom of this post}
- Heart Suckers
- Tissue Paper in a variety of colors
- Hot Glue
How to make the Pom-Poms
Choose 3 colors of tissue paper and then watch the video below for how to make the fringe.
Once you’ve made your fringe, you just need to glue it on the stick.
And then wrap it around and around, dotting it with glue so it won’t come unraveled.
Then do a herkie because you’re almost done!
The last thing you need to add is the little printable banner. Make sure and glue that sucker on tight because there’s going to be lots of waving it around.
Now you can do your round-off back-handspring! Yahoo!
So, are you a fan of these little Valentine’s?
i actually tried out in maybe 6th grade or whatever grade it was…. and it was awful. i have no abilities and i am not a cheerleader type… it’s just not me. what was i thinking?!?!? i didn’t make it, in case you are wondering. 😉
So glad I’m not the only one! I’m so not the cheerleader type…and I’m totally fine with that!!!
