AAAAhhhh!!!! The dog ate my valentines that I made yesterday!
Good thing I took pictures before it happened. And I’d only made about 6 out of the 26 that need finishing.{toally looking on the bright side here}
Oh, the life with a paper-eating, couch-chewing lab. But we love him and that’s that.
Leaving that all in the dust of the past, today I have a fun little DIY jewelry tutorial for you guys. I told you when I shared my Glitter Heart Bracelet that I was going to make that one of my things this year!
Aren’t these so pretty?
How to make DIY Gold Leaf Wood Bead Earrings
You only need a few supplies. I’ve included what Amazon affiliate links I could below for easy online ordering. The rest you can find at your local craft store.
- 2 Wooden craft beads
- Liquid Gold Leaf
- 4 spacer beads
- 2 earring hooks
- 2 head pins
- Jewelry making tools I used wire cutters, small pliers and the rounded nose pliers for this project.
First, take a small paintbrush and paint your wooden beads with the liquid gold leaf. I totally dig this stuff.
Let them dry and then you can assemble your earrings.
First add a spacer bead to the head pin.
Then a wooden bead…
And one more spacer bead.
You’ll need to trim off the wire with some wire cutters and then round it to make a loop with your round nose pliers.
Attach the earring loop.
And you’re done! With one, that is. You’ll need to go back and make another, unless you got one ear pierced and then chickened out.
I’m getting better at the looping thing. You can see how one earring looks nice and professional and the other looks like a new-born chimpanzee did it.
And I promise, there were no baby chimps involved.
I don’t even have pierced ears and I had to read through this whole post because you just.crack.me.up. Glad the new born baby chimps are safe with you, Gwen!!
