I love naval oranges. Or any orange for that matter. But I’m not a big fan of peeling them.
I hate getting the white stuff all up under my nails. It’s so gross.
So out of necessity, I’ve found 2 ways to get around “peeling” oranges. One is great for just eating, and one is great for eating or juicing. Both are super quick and easy, and you won’t get any white stuff under your fingernails. Yay!
Here’s the first quick and easy way to peel an orange:
Cut off both ends of the orange.
Then make a slice down to the middle of the orange. Don’t go all the way through, though.
Then just open it up with your fingers and peel out the slices. Easy peasy!
Now, this is a great way to peel any citrus fruit for juicing or eating:
First, cut both ends off. Then, taking your knife, and, following the contour of the orange, slice off the peeling.
Go all the way around the orange until you’ve “peeled” it.
If you are juicing, just plop it in your juicer like this. But if you are eating it, just poke your thumbs down in the center and pull apart.
Again… easy peasy!
I have juiced a lot, and figuring this way out has saved me a lot of time.
