its-a-gold-deskHere it is… post number three in my series of SUPREMELY procrastinated posts…

I finally showed you guys my Stenciled Wall Stripes and My Shaker-style Headboard.

And now, I’m finally getting around to my Bold Gold Desk. Yay!

Metallics are on my mind, baby and I’m smitten with this gorgeous paint from Martha.

It’s like butter in a jar… except it’s not edible… and you can’t fry eggs in it.

So, maybe it’s not exactly like butter, but it is SMOOTH.

I’ve used this paint on my Scalloped Desk and my Master Bedroom Mirrors {which are waiting in the Bold Blog Queue}.  I’d paint the cat with it if she’d stay still long enough…

And thank Martha for coming to the recue, because my first go ’round with this desk was pretty horrifying!

Not exactly what I’d call sophisticated, yo.

Pink Desk

Now that’s better, baby!

its a gold desk

This desk is a part of my heart… my sweet Grandaddy gave it to me when I was about 12 and I’ll never let it go.

But it was getting worn out and tired.

And when I painted it, there was a massive gap… nothing that a little Caulk won’t fix.

Caulk-is-awesome

Sigh.  Caulk.  I love you.

You make my heart all aflutter with your magical ways…

Now, when I got to the hardware, I totally stressed myself out.

I totally thought I’d find some fun knobs at Anthro and make this baby sing, but alas!

Days turned into weeks and weeks turned into months… {not really, but it felt like an eternity…}

So, I gave up and drove to Home Depot and settled for these puppies…

And like any girl on a first date with date with the man of her dreams, I fell hard…

And knew they were the Cinderella Slippers to my little desk turned vanity.

Gold Desk on Wall

I’m not done here. Shocker, I know.  {A Chair would be nice, yo.}

But it’s getting there inch by blessed inch!

desk with Hot Shot

Even Hot Shot finds this space comforting… but it doesn’t take much for him.

Just a bone or four.

So what do you think?  Besides how amazing it looks against those crazy-awesome stenciled stripes.  Oh, I know.  I shouldn’t be braggadocios  but I can’t freakin’ help it.

I love them.

No, I LOVE them.

Do you?   No, no, no… the desk.  Keep it to the desk, Gwen…

The desk!  What do you think about the desk???

{Whew.}
