Morgan is really growing up. If you’re new here, Morgan is my 16 year old ginger-haired boy. It’s so hard to believe even though I believe it. Does that make even an iota of sense?
He doesn’t talk about girls at all and the only thing he says when the subject even comes up is that he doesn’t have time with swimming and academics. That is good to hear, but.. BUT he did get asked to the Sadie Hawkins dance this winter.
You can see the bouquet I made for his date here.
Then one Friday he comes home and asks me what we are doing that Saturday night. As usual, we weren’t doing anything. He looked down at his shoes and rather timidly asked if he could take this same girl to the ring dance.
{He must like her. He must, right?} I like her too. She’s very cute, and she’s not on Facebook, so I think that makes her kind of wise.
Anyway, again, we needed flowers so I turned on my thinking machine and came up with this sweet and simple Daisy Nosegay.
Oh, my gosh! How sweet is that? And it really is so super easy to make. Let me show you:
How to Make a Daisy Nosegay
What you need:
- A bouquet of store bought daisies
- Some washi tape
- Some gold ribbon
Here’s another picture because… daisies!
First, trim the leaves off the flowers. Then take a couple and hold them between your fingers.
Then gradually start adding stems, placing them so they make a sweet, tight bouquet.
Next, take your washi tape and wrap it around the stem several times. Then trim the stems to the same length.
Now we add the ribbon. Cut a long piece off. Longer than you think you might need. You can always trim it. I’d say around 18″ maybe.
Start by wrapping it around the bouquet at the bottom.
Then twist the ribbon around itself and wrap it back around the nosegay.
Repeat the process until you get to the top of the washi tape.
Now, just tie a bow at the top and trim it off.
Morgan’s date wasn’t sure what to do with it, so she left it at home. Imagine my surprise and delight when I started seeing the prom pictures pop up on Facebook and just about every girl had a bouquet like this! Am I on trend or what?
This would be such a sweet flower girl bouquet, too, wouldn’t it? Or just because you’re awesome bouquet?
I just love daisies.
