I don’t know about you guys, but it doesn’t matter how much sleep I get, come about 2PM, I start to lose steam.  Even now that the boys are back in school and it’s just me and my furry kids, there is always an afternoon lull in my energy level. It’s not that I don’t eat well, because I do.  I generally eat lots of salad for lunch and a good amount of protein.  I’ve even set a goal of 10,000 steps which I do most of first thing in the morning. But, I have a remedy!  I have a few things that I turn to when my eyelids start to want to meet in the middle.

How to Recharge Your Afternoon! Tips for overcoming that 2PM slump by taking a few minutes to recharge!

First, I have some recorded visualizations that I listen to every day.

I have one specifically for an afternoon recharge.  It helps get me back on center by taking deep, full breaths which force that much needed O2 into my wanna-be-asleep brain. I try not to nap, which I know can be a good thing to recharge you, but naps (even short ones) tend to leave me with an achy head, but the recorded recharge/relaxation leaves me much more energetic than any shut eye!

One of my very favorite ways to recharge is to have a small snack.

Something healthy like Flax crackers and some fruit, accompanied by my all time favorite hot tea.

Have you ever tried Tazo® Tea? I’ve been sipping them for several years now! My favorite blends are Passion®, Zen™, Awake™ English Breakfast (not pictured) and Sweet Cinnamon Spice.

Here’s a little more about these flavors:

  • Zen™– a harmonious blend of green tea with lemongrass & spearmint
  • Awake™ English Breakfast– a breakfast-style black tea of malty boldness & bright flavor, invigorating any time of day
  • Passion®– An exuberant herbal infusion of hibiscus, orange peel, rose hips & passion fruit flavors

I love Tazo, because they are laser focused on taste, crafting their teas with exhilarating, unexpected flavor blends that delight the senses. With Tazo, you don’t just sip, you Sip Joyfully. I tend to reach for Passion first.  I love it’s soft fruity blend of flowers and citrus.  I can really taste the rose hips, which I LOVE!  It’s so delightful that I don’t even have to use any kind of sweetener.

It has such a unique and vibrant taste that I don’t want anything to get in the way of it’s refreshing and bright flavor. To find Tazo near you, just visit Tazo.com! Tazo really has it going on in the store, too.  It’s the first packaging I see and it pulls my eyes right to it’s place on the shelf!  It really does capture the essence of the bright and flavorful blends.

And I love how they make it easy to grab a tea bag with the perforated opening on the side.

I just set it in my cabinet and don’t have to pull it off the shelf to get my fix.

Once I’ve done some relaxation and visualization and had a lovely cup of Tazo tea, I feel refreshed and revitalized to carry on my busy day.  And boy, do I need it come 4:00 when the bus pulls up with my energetic 12 year old!
