Store bought, perfumey air freshener sprays always make me sneeze and give me headaches! I don’t think I’ve bought one in years upon years. And living with three males, a HUGE lab and a cat {no matter how sweet}, life can get a bit icky in the freshness department.
I got desperate.
And when desperation hits, you either have to throw in the towel or get creative. I chose creativity. It’s my thing.
So, after some hard and fast thinking, I came up with this amazing All Natural Homemade Air Freshener Spray. When I started spraying it all over the house, I thought I had died and gone to olfactory heaven! No sneezes and no headaches.
Yay! It’s a miracle! I went around the house spraying and dancing like I was a third grade ballerina practicing for her first {and perhaps only} solo performance.
And y’all! It’s so quick and easy to make!
What you need:

- Distilled water
- Lavender and Peppermint Essential Oils

They are amazing oils at a VERY reasonable price. I highly recommend them.

You don’t have to use lavender and peppermint. That just happens to be my favorite combination. Use any oil that just smells good to you… citrus, eucalyptus, rosemary. Whatever floats your nosie boat!
How to make All Natural Homemade Air Freshener Spray
To make your All Natural Homemade Air Freshener Spray, just drop in about 30 drops of Lavender and 30 drops of Peppermint Essential Oils. 30 drops is just about a dropper-full if you get the dropper that comes with the Classic Essential Oils Kit.
Then fill it up with distilled water. I use distilled because it’s super clean and fresh. If I’m going to be spraying all over my house, I want to make sure I’m not spreading contaminates with it.
Shake thoroughly.
Then spray all over. Just make sure to set it on mist so it will dissipate through the air and not stream out and hit the window and create a big mess. 🙂
The only word I can think of to describe this is YUMMY.
I think this Homemade Air Freshener Spray might replace my How to Freshen a Room as my favorite way to freshen a room! Try both ways and then let me know which is your favorite.

This sounds so nice! I’ve just started using EOs and this would be a good thing to try next.
You totally should, Eloquence! I love mine!
How large of a bottle do you use with the 60 drops of oils? That seems like a lot higher than the dilution ratio I’m used to…
Hi Sandra,
It holds almost 2 cups. I might like it stronger than normal… But just use what you feel is best for you nose! Haha!
