Oh, my gosh, you guys! I am so glad to finally be writing this post and showing you what I’ve been up to! I feel as if it’s taken four eternities to get this all done, but I have to say, I do think all the work was worth the outcome.
I still have a few things I want to do in this space, but um. Money.
Christmas is coming and I’m trying to save what I can for Santa to visit. I figure spreading love to my family is a little bit more important than my office. Maybe. I’m trying to prioritize, but Ikea vs. Santa? Still a little painful to choose. Haha.
But this is where things are right this very minute. I’ll share a little more about the process of ripping out the carpet and painting the floor sometime next week., but for now, here’s the room in all it’s white floor glory!
If you want to see some of the before, just visit my Office Gallery.
This is where I sit and write and edit photos and design my printables.
I moved this $15 gold chair I’ve had in the family room for eons and set it in the corner. I want to update it, but I just can’t seem to get there. I will, though. I’d like to use a large scale floral print for reupholstering and then paint the trim white. I LOVE that look and haven’t ever done anything like it, so I’m ready to bring it into my life. But I do like it as it is now, it’s just a little beat up.
This is a little Ikea unit that sits beside it. I have a plan to upgrade my storage in here, but that’s where the money comes in. For now, I’m keeping this little locker guy and housing all of my paper stuff and office supplies in there.
I shopped the house and popped a few magazines and my favorite book from A Beautiful Mess (amazon affiliate link) on top. And I’m freaking in love with this little dragon Brendan made in art class.
This is where I store my Washi tape. Washi tape deserves a golden case, I think.
Here’s a photo of my mom and dad. They are hands down the sweetest parents ever. I’m not sure how they put up with four crazy girls, but they survived!
You’ll also notice my glittery waste basket behind them. I can’t keep it on the floor because some giant black monster thinks it’s his snack bin. Ugh. But at least it’s pretty, right? I mean, if it has to be a part of the staging, it has to be.
And I kept my restored vintage light. I’m still smitten and so it stays… so it stays!
Right to the left of my desk, I keep some of my electronic-y things here in this basket. It’s holding my Wacom tablet (amazon affiliate link) which I use for digital drawing and the recording equipment for that podcast I’ve never started. Womp, womp.
I do love adding some natural materials to balance out the crispness of the space.
On the left, I have a smaller basket for cords that I use more often.
Aaaaaand I just noticed how full of cat hair it is. Gross. But that’s the reality of my life. Pet Hair.
Methinks I need to take my own advice.
Now let’s talk about this rug! HOLY COW.
I’m so excited about this rug from Rugs USA. I emailed them back in July thinking I wouldn’t hear from them for a while, but they got right back to me wanting to share in this update! They are amazing.
I chose this Chroma Rug, which, unfortunately, sat in my dining room for a couple of months while I was working on the geometric cedar planked wall in the foyer. I didn’t think that foyer would take as long as it did, but I finally finished it and moved on to the office.
The pink rug really shines against the white floors, and I think it was worth the wait.
I wasn’t sure about how soft it would be, but let me tell you. It’s soft. My tootsies love it.
The pattern is so perfect. It’s has this soft, vintagy, worn out vibe while still keeping the vibrance of a new rug. It is floral, but not in your face so.
Oh, and I almost forgot. I moved the curtains from the dining room into the office. I want to do something a little more modern in there and, thankfully, the colors in these curtains really work really well in the new office, I think. I’d like to do a big bold geometric pattern in here someday, but for now, I do love these here.
I am thinking about moving things around and adding a crafting table. I removed the big double desk from the space to open things up.
I love walking into an office with the desk facing the door.
But maybe doing the other way so I can put a big long desk with some file storage behind it under the DIY Pixel Art.
This works for now, though. I also love looking out the windows when I’m working, so it’s not really a compromise.
So… what do you think? Do you like the white floors? I’ll share more about the upkeep next week and let me tell you, it’s not a nightmare. I promise!
*Thank you to Rugs USA for sending me this amazing rug. My opinions are 100% my own.

I bought a pink rug from rugsusa.com, also. Mine is the oriental one & I love it. It was very reasonably priced, but looks and feels a lot more expensive.
Vicki,
Glad you like it!
Thanks,
Gwen

Thank you so much, Gretchen!
