So, I’m terribly lucky to have my own home office that is alllllllllll mine. Â I don’t take it for grated, y’all.
But even if you don’t, you can still glam up your space, cubical, corner, cloffice (closet-office) if you have one.
Today, I’m here with a boat load of ideas to make your space sparkle like the Hope Diamond on steroids.
HOW TO GLAM UP YOUR HOME OFFICE!
1. Â Stick with a simple color scheme.
My office is basically all white, pink and gold. Â Yes, I have this DIY pixel art that is filled with color, but the white walls and white floor are a blank canvas which makes the room feel light and airy!
So when you are planning out your space, think simple. Â Pick a bold accent color, use white for your canvas and throw in some bling where you can!
2. Keep your furniture on the more modern side.
If you want your home office to scream “GLAM”, you’ve got to move away from the chippy furniture and paper wreaths. Â I love both of those looks, but there is a fine line between rustic and glam. Â Well, maybe not such a fine line…
But moving to a more modern look with Ikea style furniture is going to give you a modern, glamorous edge. Think 1960 meets Tiffany’s.  Or Oscar de Larenta. Or Katherine Hepburn.  I have a couple of Ikea desks and some big metal bookshelves that look really sleek and modern.
I don’t think Katherine Hepburn would ever be sitting at a distressed, blue and white chalk painted desk. Â Not to disparage chalk paint, ya’ll. Â I love it. But the First Lady of the silver screen is going to be surrounded with chic and high class looking (but not necessarily high-costing) furniture.
If you can swing it, lucite furniture in some form is going to glam it up B-I-G time. This chair is big-time on my list!
3. Grab some glitter and make sparkly things!
I’m a huge proponent of gold glitter. Â You can throw it on some really ugly stuff and POW! Â You’ve got some glameroo.
I took an ugly, silver trash can and made it super glam with some white spray paint and glitter. Â Check it out here -> Gold Glitter Trashcan.
I’ve glittered up some pencils and a heart magnets. Â I’ve even done a mason jar. I’m not a huge fan of mason jars because they’re a little bit rustic, iykwim, but throw on some glitter and yeah, I can work with that.
4. Get some gold office supplies.
Holy staples, Mad Men! Â Have you seen these girls swimming around Pinterest? They are actually clear acrylic with gold accents. My life changed when I got my own. Â It’s just so pretty to look at, never mind use.
5. Make sure you have some pretty things to write with.
These pens and these pencils will have you oozing glamor. Â Of course, anything Kate Spade is going to dramatically raise the glam-factor!
6. Â Add a funky design to your walls with a Gold Sharpie Pen.
I love to write on the walls, especially if it’s in gold. Â There is nothing like a fun, modern design written in sparkly ink to make your home office shimmer with glammerific detail.
You can see how I did this here (and it only cost about 8 bucks!) => Gold Sharpie Wall.
7. Use some mylar tissue paper to make some shiny accents.
I used gold and silver along with some pink to make this cute tassel garland.  You could use it to make some flowers or wall art of some kind.  Just get creative and the glam is right at your finger tips.
8. Ditch the builder’s boob light and glam up a vintage fixture.
Oh, man.  I still have a couple of boob lights and they are u.g.l.y.  But I fixed that sad situation in my office by taking an vintage shade and fixing it up myself. Using some color cord is the pièce de ré·sis·tance!
If you don’t want to make your own light, just grab a Color Cord Swag light and make a lamp with it. Â I have no shame in admitting my deep obsession with color cord. Â I have a light in my foyer and in my den with this cording. Â It’s its own special light-of-my-life-magnificence, and I’m proud of it.
9. Get rid of the carpet.
Ugh. Â I’m sorry, but nothing destroys the glam factor more than ugly, stained, matted carpet. Â Or even new, fresh, clean carpet. Â Carpet in general is the Debbie Downer of home decor.
Yes, I have it in the bedrooms and Yes, we’re looking at replacing it with more carpet, but I was NEVER so rapturous as when I ripped out the nasty, fur-covered carpet from my office.
I painted the slab with some white paint made for concrete and it’s just lover-ly. Yes, it gets dirty and it has chipped here and there, but I don’t regret ii one iota of an iota.
You can see how I did it here => How to Paint a Concrete Floor
10. Keep your office decluttered.
Nothing says BLAH like a messy mess. Â Paper clutter, craft clutter, work out clutter just makes your office sad and dreary. Â You’ve gone to all this trouble to make your space sparkle, so it’s worth the little bit of effort to keep it clean and organized.
If you feel frazzled and overwhelmed, you can see my simple tips to get organized here => How to Get Organized When You are Completely Frazzled and Overwhelmed.
Are you ready to add some glam to your life? Â Tell me where you’re going to start!
