In the midst of all the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, it’s nice to slow down.
As in, with the crock-pot. Fire that baby up and let it work for you. That’s my motto.
And this Slow Cooker Cranberry Applesauce is a huge hit over here.
Actually, gargantuan might better a better way describe it. No…let’s use the word, MONOLITHIC.
As soon as I say it’s ready, there is a tiny-human (and not so tiny-human) stampede. Bowls are flying through the air. Bodies clashing mid-kitchen.
I practically have to body block and ration this stuff out. #reallyforreal
Here’s how to make it:
Peel and cube about 14 Granny Smith (or a mixture of red and green if you prefer).
Throw them in your crockpot with:
- 1/4 cup of water
- 1/2 cup of powdered stevia or sugar
- 1-2 TBS cinnamon
Stir to combine and cook on high for about 2 hours.
Then add 1 1/2 to 2 Cups of cranberries, depending on how mouth-puckeringly tart you want your sauce, and cook for about another hour.
Oh, man. I have some in the fridge and think I’m going to go and slurp it up. 😉
